ABOUT & HISTORY
Since its inception in 1964, Kantorei’s mission has been to represent the finest tradition of boychoirs by offering an outstanding musical and cultural education while providing many opportunities for personal growth. Kantorei is committed to help build character in each choir member by instilling a sense of responsibility, self-discipline, and dedication towards a common goal.
No prior training is necessary to join Kantorei. Kantorei is open to any boy ages 5-18. Kantorei's audition process places boys in one of three choirs based on age, musical experience, and vocal ability. The goal is to place the boy where he will be challenged and taught the needed skills to grow his personal musicianship.
Once accepted, a boy will begin his training for Performing Choir. Kantorei offers training for all skill levels in pitch, rhythm, harmony, phraseology, and working in an ensemble. Emphasis on memorization fosters self-directed learning. In as soon as 1 year and no more than 2, the boy will be graduated from his training choir into Performing Choir, receiving public recognition for his achievement.
Equipped with musical versatility, the boy will take his skill to the world of public performance, singing in a wide range of settings ranging from school visits and workshops to outdoor community events and concerts to touring domestically and internationally. Ultimately, the Kantorei experience will remain a part of the boy's identity for the rest of his life.
